At 181 BC Furniture Design, we believe materials carry memory. Our vision began with the recovery of an ancient cypress, carbon‑dated to 181 BC, preserved for over two millennia along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. That discovery set the tone for our work: crafting organic furniture that honors the endurance of nature while serving modern needs. Not every piece is made from that singular slab, but every design carries its spirit—rare, resilient, and timeless. Faithful to Nature is our guiding principle: we celebrate wood’s natural grain, imperfections, and history, shaping them into one‑of‑a‑kind furniture that transforms provenance into design language and history into living art.

Sammy Fritcher is more than just the Owner and Chief Designer of 181 BC Furniture Designs—he’s the creative force who shaped its vision and identity. His leadership blends craftsmanship, storytelling, and design innovation into a brand that transforms rare materials into living art. At 181 BC Furniture Design, every piece begins with a story, and that story often starts with Sammy.
